Oldies Build Boats

Went up to Newcastle-ish to see Kim's parents - Les & Noni - who live on a very nice new estate specifically designed for oldies. They have a little workshop where the guys work on stuff, which includes model boats. Just the thing for the dam round the back. Here's some of the action.

One of the boats and associated kit.

Some of the guys driving a little paddle-steamer around.

Gladesville Hospital Plant-Life

I'm working at Gladesville Hospital, at the moment. It's no longer a working hospital but the old buildings are being used for admin and other stuff. The site is really old and parts of the grounds are just lovely. Here's some pics I took on the phone camera and the theme is (mostly) patterns that plants make. You didn't know that plants are little mathematicians, did you?

OK, not all plant pics. This rainbow was doing its stuff just as I was going home.

Red berries - not for eating.

Not sure what these are but I took a bit home. Maybe it'll grow.

There's an overgrown pond and this is one of the thingies that took advantage.

This, too.

Just outside my office window is this prefect tree.

A cactus thing with spikey leaves.

This is rosemary and is in a planter just outside the cafe.

One of those palm trees that needs to be cut back.

Just a nice flower.

This is part of a huge evergreen tree.

This one's definitely not evergreen.

Big leaves.

This is a weird one - red leaves.

The bark of a tree.

Likewise.

Not a plant at all.

A big leaf with patterns on it.

Yow Wai insisted on standing in front of this so that you would 'know how big it is'. Now you know. (Not that Yow Wai is plant-life or anything)
