Perth City Bus Trip

Whenever we arrive in a new city - assuming they've got one - we jump on the tourist bus for a trip around the place.

Like this.

The bishop's palace. Nothing like a palace to peer down at the poor from.

The park by the river. There'll be a lot more river before this trip is out.

See.

The ferry terminal featuring a lovely pub called the Lucky Shag. Guffawk.

The bell tower near the ferry terminal.

This was just before xmas and they were setting up a sound stage. Dunno what / who for though.

A government building from another age.

Statue of a bloke with a gun. All statues should have guns.

City from Kings Park.

Probably a war memorial - has that look about it.

A sandy hill with sticks in it in Kings Park. Wouldn't be without one, myself.

Statue of a chick with three guns - probably jeering at the statue of the bloke with one gun.

That, in the foreground, is the memorial to the victims of the Bali bombings. Finally, a terrorist noticed Australia. Well, Bali.

Kim's first job was here. While it may LOOK like a perfectly pleasant home, it is in fact a perfectly pleasant home full of neurotic rich people who really ought to know better.

Some cranes. Why cranes? Cos the city is full of 'em, that's why.

Front of the firehouse. While that may look like a piece of perfectly ordinary rock, it is, in fact, a perfectly ordinary piece of rock given to the firehouse by the Japanese... Japan: Have a piece of rock. Firehouse: Ta very much. Japanese: Can we kill all your whales? Firehouse: No. Japanese: Bugger.

The Town Hall as built by convicts. That'll teach them for nicking bread.

Shops - whatever they are.

Just over the river, there is the casino / hotel / yadda / yadda / yadda complex. These are never very interesting, always on the city tour anyway, and built with the architectural wisdom of a slug.

Nice trees though.

Ooo, did I say it's xmas.
