Ceduna to Border Village

This leg will take us into the Nullarbor and almost to South Australia.

Windmills at Penong. That's it, there is nothing else.

As we leave the coast and push on towards the Nullarbor, the claims get more outlandish and the price of fuel goes up. This may be the last shop for a little over 100km but 1,000!

No road trip in Australia is complete without a piccie of these sort of signs.

A dingo. Sans baby.

Not a dingo. A baby.

The (actually 'A' - there's another one down the road) Big Whale at Nullarbor Roadhouse.

That's how far away everything is.

OK, Nullarbor - meaning 'no trees' - is a tad of an over-exaggeration. Onearbor, anyone?

This little sod spat at me. I really shouldn't be surprised. Everything in Australia that swims, walks, crawls, flies and (in one case) is planted wants to kill me. Why should the ugliest lizard on the planet be any different?

Roads are for sharing, people.

This bin was something of a message-board. I like the idea of a brakeless bus.

Ooo, scarey.

Kim reads the 'How not to lose your dog over the cliff' instructions.

And, wow. That's the Great Australian Bight and it is really spectacular.

See. Earlier in the year you would have seen whales swimming around here.

A serial-killer's car - which leads us to: The Nullarbor Serial Killer Drinking Game.

Not so cliffey, this bit. Looks like you can get a 4WD down there, but not us.

Border Village Roadhouse and the next Big Thing - the Big Kangaroo. Holding a beer.

And it has a very welcome swimming pool.

Border Village Advisory:

There seems to be a local sport called; 'What's the biggest lie you can tell a tourist and get them to believe it'. Now, this can be a bit of fun and I can be fairly gullible but, guys, at least try. And it's best not to come up with something that can be verified by the border guards just a few metre away.

Example: The reason there's so many cats roaming around the roadhouse grounds is that they are not allowed into SA and the owners end up chucking them out of the window.

I don't think so!
